Serenity and peace.....is that what you see?
Being amongst nature is a wonderful feeling that can ground and restore your inner peace, it can bring a clarity and sense to the inner soul. When I look at the above image I see it as ideal for meditation....you can see where nature has naturally created a clearing amongst the tall strong bamboo to give way to a subtle tranquil space; ideal for meditation. There is a train of thought here which involves my Interior Design client, who practices Buddhism and a result of this thought this has inspired me to make it a stimuli.
Buddhism is a philosophy of life which requires dedication (like any religion) but there is a particular view and consciousness that Buddhist have, they aim to cultivate love and kindness with the intention to live peacefully amongst others; through the art of meditation they have learned to create an inner peace. I have always found people who practiced Buddhism as calm and knowing with strength and characteristics which are similar to the bamboo, the appearance may not immediately signify strength but when you get closer and start to look deeper and understand the "mechanics" of the bamboo you will find it has a strength not quite obvious to the eye while being flexible and maleable....very clever!
I find it captivating that nature seems to just make colours and lines work so naturally and harmoniously without even trying. Interior Designer can spend many hours working with these opposing lines, shapes and colours adjusting tones and sizes in order to get them to work as well as, or should I say as naturally as nature does. Bamboo leaves consist of straight and curved lines in the leaves, and the deep green next to the round form of the culm and subtle yellow shades just seem to work in nature.
Then there is that void amongst the bamboo's which just evokes a feeling of peace, it is as if they have grown and made way with a graceful understanding of respect for boundaries regardless of the size of the bamboo. The clearing amongst the bamboos is an ideal spot to meditate for spiritual enlightenment and transformation.
From a designer point of view there are great lines and colour to really be inspired....
- Respect for space
- Harmonious colour
- Beautiful lines
